MasterCard SecureCode is a new service offered by Capital One in partnership with MasterCard®. This service offers secure Internet shopping, using your preferred form of Internet payment - the credit card. MasterCard SecureCode lets you add a personal SecureCode to your existing Capital One card. The requirement of your SecureCode helps prevent unauthorized usage of your card on the Internet, giving you more confidence about making secure purchases online.
When you purchase online, MasterCard SecureCode issues a receipt at the end of the checkout process. The receipt includes details of your current purchase, such as site name, purchase amount and date. You simply sign the receipt using your personal SecureCode and click 'Submit' to proceed with the purchase. By entering your SecureCode, you authenticate yourself as the authorized user of the card. You will only be asked to enter your SecureCode at participating stores.
MasterCard SecureCode is quick and easy to use. When you submit an order in a participating online store you'll be asked for your MasterCard SecureCode SecureCode. Simply enter your SecureCode, choose Submit, and you're done.

What happens when my Capital One credit card expires?
When you are re-issued a new Capital One credit card, the MasterCard SecureCode service is automatically updated with the new card information. You do not need to re-register in order to continue using the MasterCard SecureCode service.
If I register two or more Capital One cards, can I set the SecureCode to be the same for all the cards I register?
Yes. When you register with MasterCard SecureCode you choose one SecureCode. This SecureCode allows you to make online purchases from participating MasterCard SecureCode merchants using any of the cards you have registered with the Capital One MasterCard SecureCode service. It is your responsibility to protect your SecureCodes. You should select a SecureCode between 8-15 characters, which includes at least one number and one letter. You may not use SecureCodes that you have used in the past, and SecureCodes must not contain your name. We recommend that you select a SecureCode that will be easy for you to remember and difficult for others to guess.
You create your Personal Greeting as the last step in your MasterCard SecureCode registration. When you pay online, always look for your Personal Greeting before you enter your SecureCode to ensure that you're using the authentic MasterCard SecureCode service.
The Signature Panel Code is the 3-digit number printed on the signature stripe on the back of your MasterCard card just after the account number. The Signature Panel Code uniquely identifies the card issued to the cardholder. Capital One matches the card verification code against its own records to help verify that the person registering for the service is in physical possession of the card.
What do I do if I have problems during the registration process?
Capital One customer service is available at 1-800-481-3239, 7 days a week, between the hours of 7AM and 12AM, EST. We will be happy to assist you with any problems and answer any questions you may have.
